Heatwave Grips Japan: Temperatures Soar Past 35°C in Multiple Regions

Kathmandu: A severe heatwave has swept across Japan since last Monday, with temperatures crossing 35 degrees Celsius in several parts of the country — marking the hottest period of the year so far.
According to official data, 22 locations across Japan recorded temperatures above 35°C, while 415 other areas reported temperatures exceeding 30°C.
Saijo City in Ehime Prefecture topped the charts with a sweltering 36.5°C, followed closely by Ayakawa in Kagawa Prefecture, Mima, and Tokushima City in Tokushima Prefecture, all of which recorded 36.2°C.
Central Tokyo also experienced its highest temperature of the year, as the intense heatwave continues to affect daily life across the country. Authorities have urged residents to stay hydrated and take precautions as the heat is expected to persist.
